Reduce Store Theft and Optimize Operations with Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS)

Shoplifting, violence, and aggression towards employees are major challenges facing the retail sector.

Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) can significantly reduce theft in stores, as well as help you keep track of inventory and report on store performance and operations.

EAS systems use a variety of technologies to detect and deter theft, including:

  • RF tags: These tags are attached to merchandise and emit a radio frequency signal that is picked up by EAS antennas at the store exits. If a tag is removed without being deactivated, an alarm will sound.

  • Inductive loop antennas: These antennas are installed at the store exits and create a magnetic field. When a tag passes through the field, it triggers an alarm if it is not deactivated.

  • Video surveillance: EAS systems can also be integrated with video surveillance systems to provide additional prevention of theft.

EAS systems can be customized to fit the needs of any retail business. For example, some systems are designed to be unobtrusive to customers, while others are designed to deter theft by being more visible.

EAS systems provide a number of benefits to retail businesses:

  • Reduced theft: EAS systems can reduce theft by up to 70%.

  • Improved inventory accuracy: EAS systems can help you keep track of your inventory - help you avoid stockouts and overstocks.

  • Better customer service: EAS systems can help you create a more secure shopping environment.

  • Increased profits: EAS systems can help you save money by reducing theft and improving inventory accuracy.

We offer a variety of EAS solutions to fit the needs of every business, from small retailers to large chains. Our experienced team can help you choose the right solution for your business and install it properly. We also offer ongoing support to ensure that your EAS system is always working properly.

Security Advisory

Be vigilant. There has been an increase in reports of false billing scams. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact person to confirm if it is legitimate. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s National Anti-Scam Centre has reported a 25% increase in losses incurred by Australians from false billing scams in the July-September 2023 quarter compared to the same period last year. This is despite an overall 16% decrease in losses across scam categories.

Payment redirection scams are the most prevalent type of false billing scams. These involve scammers impersonating a business or its employees via email and requesting that money, which usually is owed to the legitimate business, is paid into a fraudulent account. For further information, visit the National Anti-Scam Centre website at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/.

Optic Security Group will never advise a change of bank details via email. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact to confirm if it is legitimate.
