Optic Security Group talks artificial intelligence and cyber resilience in Canberra

Optic teams with tech partners in the national capital to brief public sector audiences on emerging video analytics, artificial intelligence, and cyber resilience.

Following its success in Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland, and Wellington, this week saw Canberra play host to the latest Optic Security Group InnovateSecure event showcasing the latest ideas in security technology.

Facilitated by Optic Security Group Business Development Director National Darren Ramsay and featuring presentations by technology partners Axis Communications, Geutebrück, Advancis, Manteena, and Cyber Resilience Group (CRG), the event was attended by around fifty commonwealth government, law enforcement, and security consultancy delegates.

"It was a real pleasure to connect with customers and stakeholders in Canberra along with our solution partners to discuss innovations in CCTV, AI, cybersecurity, physical access control and the new capabilities being tested and improved at our cutting-edge OpticIQ Lab,” said Optic Security Group CEO Ferzad Bharucha.

As with previous InnovateSecure events, Product Innovation Manager and internationally renowned CCTV expert Vlado Damjanovski took his audience through a short history of the interconnections between artificial intelligence and video and an exploration of various cutting edge ai-enabled video analytics solutions.

Vlado presented case studies that highlighted the importance of the video quality parameters set out in the new IEC 62676-4 standards, which are key to calculating the pixel densities required to achieve specific surveillance objectives.

As part of his presentation, Optic’s Chief Security Officer, CRG’s Grant McKechnie, introduced delegates to ‘breachenomics’ – the idea that the hidden political, human, financial, reputational, and regulatory consequences of a data breach or security incident are often overlooked in the typical cost analysis.

“The event was a real showcase of the intellectual rigour and expertise that Optic Security Group and its solution partners are able to bring to bear in relation to the deployment of emerging security, surveillance, and situational awareness technologies," noted Ferzad.

The OpticIQ laboratory, established recently in Adelaide, draws from Vlado’s pioneering experience in CCTV testing, providing a sovereign capability for the trusted testing, training, and deployment readying of emerging analytic and ai-enabled technologies.

“Our innovation-driven investments and partnerships are focused not only on delivering smarter technologies, but importantly on providing our customers with trusted and accurate advice around how these technologies work, how they might be best deployed in their organisations, and how our customers can leverage them to maximise their security, resilience, and competitiveness," Ferzad said.

An addition to the speaker presentations, a copy of Vlado’s ‘CCTV Bible’ - From Light to Intelligence Pixels - published by the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) – was won by a lucky winner at the event.
